🏅 Recognition for TopDyn Researchers at the DPG Spring Meeting 2025
At the Spring Meeting of the Condensed Matter Section of the German Physical Society (DPG) in Regensburg, several researchers from the Institute of Physics at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz (JGU) were honored for their outstanding scientific achievements:
-
Dr. Libor Šmejkal was awarded the Walter Schottky Prize 2025 for his theoretical prediction of altermagnetism, a novel class of magnetic order with broad fundamental and application oriented perspectives.
-
Dr. Robin R. Neumann received the INNOMAG Dissertation Prize 2025 for his research on magnon topology and the potential for low-loss spin and heat transport in magnetic insulators.
-
Grischa Beneke was honored with the INNOMAG Master Prize 2025 for his work on reservoir computing using geometrically confined skyrmions and their manipulation through ion irradiation.
In addition, a well-attended PhD Focus Session on the application of artificial intelligence in magnetism research was successfully organized by Kilian Leutner (JGU), supported by teams from the University of Duisburg-Essen and the University of Kaiserslautern-Landau.
We congratulate all awardees and contributors for their outstanding research and scientific engagement.
